Life Reflections of Ms. Sonya Yancy
Sonya was born August 18, 1962 in Dallas, TX to James Jr. and Linda Yancy.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Smith Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Dallas, TX. Years later as an adult Sonya rededicated her life to Christ.
She was educated in Dallas Independent School District.
Sonya worked in the healthcare field for many years as a home healthcare worker. She had a gift for working with disabled people. Prior to her death, Sonya was employed with “Andy Frain” Security Service as a security guard. She obtained her Private Security license with the State of Texas in October 2024. Even during her illness, if she felt good, she would try and work. In 2024 Sonya registered as an Organ Donor. She was a very forgiving person and always the same person when you saw her. On March 4, 2026 at 1:42 PM Sonya left her earthly body and ascended to Heaven on the wings of Angels surrounded by her family.
Sonya was preceded in death by her father, James Yancy Jr., and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Those left to cherish her memories, Mother Linda Yancy-Allen; Sons Kevin and Tedrick Yancy; Sister Camela Yancy; Brothers James Yancy III (Sierra) and Harvey Yancy (Rita). Three Grandchildren Kemondre, Kevin Jr., and Tamiya Yancy; Step Granddaughter Jamayah Richardson; three Aunts Ernestine Tarrant, Cecilia Perry and Ester Yancy. Five Nephews Corey Edwards, Terrance Cheatman, Cory Yancy, Tory Yancy and Zachariah Yancy. A host of loving cousins, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Special friends: Ronnie Munson, the Simmons family, Reschell Roe, Lysa Jackson, Roger Pruitt and Herbert Rutherford of Peoria, Illinois.
