Obituary

On April 8, 1979, God blessed the union of Reverend Earl Wayne and Sharon White with the birth of Shauna Lynn White. At 7mos gestation, weighing 3#'s 9 ozs, she was strong, energetic and had a determination to begin her work here. On Wednesday, March 9, 2011, our Lord called her home . Her education began at the First Baptist Church of Friendswood (Houston), Texas. She was awarded weekly for memory of bible scriptures and honors in her work. As the family transitioned to Desoto (Dallas), Texas in 1988, Shauna continued her schooling at Ruby Young Elementary, The Meadows and graduated with honors from Desoto High School. Shauna accepted the Lord as her personal savior during Convocation one morning at First Baptist. Prayers continued with her and she was baptized in to the fold at the age of 8 at the St Mark B.C., Elder Luefell Jenkins, senior pastor. She was a member of the Bethany Missionary B.C., Rev. A.K Haynes Sr. Pastor. During her years of matriculation she enjoyed participation in Girl Scouts, Volleyball, Band (all-state French horn, 4yrs), High school newspaper reporter and columnist, Debate/Decathlon champion (silver, bronze and gold awards). Shauna was chosen "Best All Round Girl" her senior year by the Principle and faculty of Desoto. It was at this time the song "I Believe I Can Fly" became her theme. Full of life and ready to fly! She started out by accepting a position in the American Music Ambassadors. This a chosen group of students across the nation that are thought to be mature enough and have achieved high enough in their music to travel together professionally. They toured 9 countries across Europe while performing concerts. Shauna followed her brother by going her junior summer. She performed volunteer work in the Library and nursing home. Her college years were no slower. She attended Stetson University of Deland, Florida. Here she made Dean's list, and was well thought of by her professors. When she became ill with the Lupus, lost her memory, she was out a year. When well enough she worked as a student assistant to the U.S. Attorneys' Office. She later returned to Stetson and completed a double major in American Studies and Communications. Shauna graduated with honors in May of 2002. She received the Dian Christiansen Award for a job well done. Following College she continued to read and study as she began a teaching career. Her students became her life. She is noted for teaching and discipline from the hospital. The life of each student was important to her. And they knew it and responded to her style of teaching and caring. God was in everything she did. She was also noted to bring students to church with her and give them the word. She leaves to cherish her memories her parents, Reverend E. Wayne and Sharon White, a brother, Corey, God sister, Danita (Baton Rouge) and a host of family and very close friends.
