Mrs. Ola Mae Jones was born April 23, 1916 in Cason, Texas to the parentage of Mr. & Mrs. Jim Fridia. She graduated from Center Point High School in Pittsburg, Texas. She and her beloved baby sister, the late Mabel Faye Fridia Washington, lived together in Texarkana, Texas, before relocating to San Francisco, California, where she met and married the late Rev. William Sterling Jones in 1952. She was an active member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in San Francisco, California. She attended Barber College in San Francisco and worked as a Barber in San Francisco, California and Anchorage, Alaska. She and her husband also owned a restaurant for many years in the San Francisco area. She relocated to Waxahachie, Texas in 1978 along with her husband and united with the Greater New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member until her health prevented regular attendance. While active, she sang in the Mission Chorus, she served as a member of the Pastor's Aide, member of Mission #2, active in Sunday School Class #12 in addition to teaching the 9 to 12 yr.olds, she served as assistant Sunday School Superintendent, member of the B.T.U., member of Willing Workers and a member of IMA Minister's Wife. She was active in the Gingerbread Homemakers Club, a Charter Member of the Young at Heart Club and a Pink Lady at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie, Texas. Ms. Jones went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, June 20, 2010, in Waxahachie, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband the Rev. William Sterling Jones in 1989, and eight siblings. She leaves to cherish her memories, a brother, Jimmy A. Fridia of Haywood, Calif.; Special Niece, Faye Fridia Chance (Ben) of Arlington, Texas; two Special Nephews, Billy Don Smith (Nancy) of Kentwood, MI. and Willie H. Fridia (Mildred) of De Soto, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
