Minnie Pearl was born May 7, 1934, to the parentage of Earnest J. and Freenola Sharp, in Cherokee County. She received her education from Forreston ISD. Minnie Pearl professed Christ in her early teens and united with New Town Church of God in Christ, located in Waxahachie, TX, where her love for the Lord grew deeper over time and led her into being a dynamic and powerful warrior for the Lord. Her sermons were heard all over the metroplex and she brought many souls to Christ. Minnie Pearl was a great prayer warrior as well as a teacher. While doing great works for the Lord she furthered her Christian studies and received her Evangelist license. Minnie Pearl loved a great challenge when it came to the word of the Lord. She could challenge you without the use of a bible and having you seconding guessing your knowledge of the word. Minnie Pearl was known to many as Sis. Whitehead and people often sought her to pray with and for them. Minnie Pearl met Austin Whitehead and on May 19, 1954 they married. To this union seven children were born. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Earnest and Freenola Sharp, husband, Austin Whitehead Sr., two daughter's Sherry Lynn and Sheila Diane Whitehead, Son, Kenny V. Whitehead, great-great grandson, Kanouris Whitehead Jr. and a brother Earnest J. Sharp. Minnie Pearl Leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories: Two sons; Austin Whitehead Jr. of Antioch, CA, Broderick Whitehead of Dallas, TX and Two daughters; Wanda Gail Houston of Waxahachie, TX, Kim (Cedrick) Byrd of Dallas, TX. Grandchildren; Sheila Whitehead, Jason (Teresa) Houston, Demarcus(Nikki) Houston, Dawaylon Houston, Zenard Houston, Montreal "Yok" Houston, Quincy Whitehead, Mimi Derrough, Caitlyn Whitehead, Olivia Whitehead, Kenny Whitehead Jr., Danielle Byrd and Cory Jones. 17 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren. Brother; Bobby Sharp (Martha) of Jacksonville, TX, Sister, Billie (Lawrence) Jones of Los Angeles, CA and a God-daughter; Dorothy Hightower and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.
