Louis McGee, 78, longtime Dallas resident, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday Evening, July 10, 2010 after a long battle with C.O.P.D. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mother Rachel Lee McGee. His Children: Rachel Louise McGee of Hayward, California; Maria McGee Lockett (Reuben), Robert Louis McGee, John F. McGee & Merirobyn M. Thomas (Ryan) all of Dallas, Texas; Ten Grandchildren and eleven Great-grandchildren. Brother Willie Goins (Bobbie). Sisters: Maggie Autry, Lucille Roche & Juanita Roche. Sister-in-Law: Shelley Johnson. His Educational background included Catholic schooling in Chicago, Illinois after which he spent nine years in the Army; serving during the Korean Conflict. After which he completed Barber College in Tyler, Texas. His career spanned across three decades as Supervisor/Parking Garage at Republic Bank in Dallas, cashier and barbering throughout the Metroplex. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Rachel Lee Williams in 1955. To this union 5 children were born. He joined Southern Crest Baptist Church after coming to Dallas in 1967; later uniting with New Birth Baptist church in the early 1980's. Louis served faithfully in his church as a Deacon, Men's Chorus, Pastor's Aid, Bible Study, Sunday School & Brotherhood. After joining the Masonic Lodge, he was elected as President of his neighborhood Association, Election Judge and a field officer in American Legion Post 802. Wake will be held Friday July 16, 2010 from 6 to 8PM at the New Birth Baptist Church Jesus Center, 444 W. Ledbetter Dr and the Funeral is on Saturday July 17 at 2:30PM also at New Birth Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Birth Baptist Church, Alma Jewel & George Wynn Pryor Scholarship Fund.
