Larry Douglas Jackson was born June 28, 1952 in Dallas, Tx to the parents James Jackson, Sr. and Vaire Moss Jackson. He attended South Oak Cliff High School and East Texas College where he met the love of his life, Sharon, and they wed in 1979.
Larry was an active firefighter and EMT in Dallas, Tx until his retirement in 2000. He was an active member of Black Dallas Firefighters and Track Dallas. After retiring he passionately coached at Ursuline Academy for many years, as well as, led both his sons to be award winning athletes in track & field.
He loved photography, gardening, spending time with his sons and grandson, and was always willing to help with their budding businesses. He was loved by all who knew him and always had a story or memory to share for laughs. He was also a published author of the collection of poems, Going Home to Nowhere. Larry Jackson was a caring, loving man who fostered a legacy of seeing then creating. He often had ideas that quickly turned to action and then results.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Jackson Sr. and Vaire Moss Jackson; sisters Rose Marie, Lottie Ruth, Velma Modean, Etta Nell, and brothers James Jr., Henry Lee, and Curtis Leroy.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Sharon; sons Jason (Natosha) and Jonathan (Chevaughn); grandson Daniel; siblings Kathryn, Hasaan born Clifford, Tyrone (Delores); a dear sister in law, Elizabeth and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to Special Olympics in Larry's honor.
