Johnnie Mary Powell was born in Waxahachie, Texas to the parentage of Johnnie and Mary Brown. Johnnie attended Oaklawn Schools. She was as faithful lifetime member of Sameria Baptist Church were she served in the choir, Sunday School, Mission and other Auxiliaries when needed until her health failed. She was a Silk Finisher at Waxahachie Steam Laundry and Kellys Cleaners. Also she was known for baby-sitting in her home. She met and married John Lincoln Pitts in 1931 to this union two daughters, John Julia, and Rose Mary Pitts were born. She met and married Willis Powell many years later. Preceded in death by parents: husbands John Pitts and Willis Powell, two grandsons Eddie Moore Jr. and Phillip Ray Moore. Survived by two daughters, John Julia Hurd of Ft.Worth, TX, Rose Mary Pitts of Waxahachie, Tx: one granddaughter Sandra Cato(Rev. Leonard) of Dallas, TX: one grandson Curtis Moore of Dallas, TX, 10 great grand children and 14 great - great grand children and a host of special friends
