Obituary

James "Jimmy" Williams was born March 12, 1949 in New Orleans, LA to the parentage of James Roebuck and Shirley Williams. James enjoyed reading and studying his bible, sports, especially golf, and had a love for music. At an early age he accepted Christ and was baptized at St. Mark's Missionary Baptist Church. James received his education in New Orleans Public Schools before joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1967, where he served for 4 years. As a civilian, James worked for United Airlines for over 20 years and drove cabs around the city of New Orleans. During that time, he rededicated his life to Christ and joined the Greater Mt. Rose Church pastored by Rev. Bernard Murray, where he worshipped until Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He then moved to Dallas, Tx and united with Bethany Missionary Baptist Church pastored by Rev. A. K. Haynes. There he served as an usher and taught Sunday School. While at Bethany, he met and married his wife Brenda on June 21, 2008. James was proceeded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Brenda of 15 years; his son Jazzman (Gabrielle) Quinn; siblings: Martin Williams, Cynthia Johnson, Rosetta Lee, Sylvia (Jeffery) Bruce, Janna (Lennis) Lyons, and Gerald (Eleanora) Brooks; Granddaughter: Emiko Jasmin Quinn; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
