James Lewis "Stick" Alexander was born December 12, 1946, the third child of Edward Lee and Willie Lola Alexander in Waxahachie, Texas. He received his education through the Waxahachie Independent School District and was a 1965 graduate of Turner High School. He also attended Hill Junior College in Hillsboro, Texas.
James accepted Christ at an early age. As an adult, he united with True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, where he sang in the choir, the men's chorus and served as a deacon for many years. He later moved his membership to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas. However, he soon was unable to attend regularly due to a demanding work schedule.
James met and married Pauline Hatter in August, 1967 and three son were born to that union: James Deon, Todd Rudolph and Christopher Maurice Alexander.
James was a phenomenal basketball player and played in the 60's with the Harlem Magicians Traveling Basketball Team. However, he was just as passionate about providing for his family and was employed over the years by Presbyterian Children's Home, Lofland Steel and My Possibilities as an Employee Consultant from where he retired on December 31, 2019 with 32 years of dedicated service.
