Obituary

Gladys Marie Carter was born in Ferris, Texas on March 3, 1958 to the parents of the late John Henry Carter, Sr., and Katie B. Carter. Her loving grandmother was Mrs. Willie Jo Baine and her grandfather was Huey Fulton and her great-grandmother was Mrs. Kate Fulton. Gladys was the (24 child of 29 brothers and sisters). Gladys lived in Bristol, then Palmer and was living in Bardwell, Texas (near Ennis, Texas) at the time of her death. She was a graduate of Palmer High School. Gladys loved life, she cherished her children unconditionally, her grandchildren, brothers and sisters, family and never met a stranger. Gladys loved everyone and no one can say she ever had an enemy. Gladys' nickname was "LeLe", which is what her brothers and sisters called her too. Gladys always had nothing but good to say about everybody and if anyone complained, she would be the first to just say, "something positive" about that personthat's how she was! She met and married Ray Allen Goff, II. To this union five children were born. By the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Gladys became a member of Timothy Baptist Church in Timothy, Texas, currently Timothy Baptist Church in Ennis. Gladys loved her church and enjoyed working for the Lord. She served and worshipped God faithfully at Timothy. There she worshipped the Lord as a member of the Pastor's Choir, the Senior Choir, Women's Mission Auxiliary, and was a regular fixture for Sunday Church School. Gladys was a Christian and exemplified a life of faithfulness, devotion and service to her church. Believing charity begins at home, she was a faithful homemaker. Gladys often reminded her family and friends, and others to be obedient to God. Gladys was called from labor to reward on Saturday, November 16, 2013. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Katie Carter; grandparents, Willie Baine and Huey Fulton; great-grandmother, Kate Fulton; five sisters; Noree Thomas, Thelma Rhodes, Rosie Marie Carter, Vanilla Carter, and Jean Carter; nine brothers; Thomas Carter, Kenneth Williams, Charlie Carter, Henry Carter, Hammon Carter, John Henry Carter, Jr.(Tump), Miles Carter, J. T. Carter, and J. B. Carter. Gladys' memory will be forever cherished by her children, LaKeshia Carter (Tim) and Tonya Goff of Ennis, Derrick Goff (Kimberly) of Grand Prairie, Texas, grandchildren; Daija Carter, Treyvon Goff, Atiruz Zurita, Brooklyn Goff, Tamiyah Goff, all of Ennis and Nylah Goff of Waco, Texas. Her sisters; Debra Deckard, Eva Wells (LeRoy), Dorine Brown, Karan (Carolyn) Gary (Melvin/George), Pearlie Richards, Annie Demmings (Earnest), Willie Hayter, Lorine Robinson, and Quetta Arthur. Her brothers; Jimmie Carter, David Carter (Dee), Cecil Carter (Doretha), Clinton Carter, and Rayfield Carter. Special ex-brother-in-law, Mr. Dexter Brown. Special friend, Shirley Collins. Over 200 nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
