Don Clemons Edwards was born October 9, 1935 in Waxahachie, Texas. He was the only child of Harvey Edwards, Jr. and Mildred Odessa Clemons Edwards. He graduated from Turner High School in 1953, which was the first class to graduate from the new school. Don accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of Greater New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Through the years, he spent his time serving in the choir, the brotherhood, and later in the deacon ministry. Don departed this life on Thursday, May 19, 2011. Don leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 54 years and 10 months -- Florence, 3 sons Don Jr. (Toni) Arlington, Texas, Darron (Michelle), Kansas City, Missouri, DeJuan (Ranesia) Houston, Texas; 2 daughters Cynthia Edwards Green Waxahachie, Texas and Dedra Edwards Williams (Jimmie Zachery) Dallas, Texas. The Edwards seed is blessed with 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Don has one living aunt, Mrs. Winnie Stringer (Los Angeles, California). Don was also blessed with 3 paternal first cousins -- Mr. Willard Sweat and Ms. Delores Jefferson (Los Angeles, California) and Mrs. Jewel Crenshaw (Waxahachie, Texas) who loved him as a "little brother". Don was also blessed with 24 maternal first cousins who loved him as a "big brother" and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other cousins and many friends.
