Derrick E Mosley

Unto us a child is born… on August 3, 1977, Derrick Ethan Mosley to Llewelyn Mosley and Janice

Mosley. He was discharged from the hospital before his mother, and was cared for in the home

of his grandparents Charles & Wilma Stearns.

Loving sports, he started playing soccer at the age 3 and basketball in elementary school. A

devoted sports enthusiast. Derrick especially loved cheering on his hometown team the Dallas

Mavericks. Whether attending games in person or watching games at home, he found joy in

supporting his favorite team and sharing that excitement with those around him.

He was introduced to Christ at early age and baptized at Smith Chapel African Methodist

Episcopal Church where he participated in the Baby Contest, Sunday School, Choralaires Choir,

Christian Endeavor, YPD, and Junior Usher Board.

Derrick started his formal learning at St. Anthony Catholic School and St. Paul the Apostle from

there he entered High School and graduated in the class of 1995 from Bishop Lynch. Upon

graduation he attended East Texas State University at Commerce and North Texas State

University in Denton.

After college Derrick worked several jobs, he worked at the Bethlehem Foundation and later

with Silver Leaf Resorts. At the time of his passing, he worked for Uber.

Known for his genuine smile, easygoing personality, and caring heart, Derrick had a special gift

for making others feel welcomed. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, creating

memories that will be treasured forever.

There are a cloud of witnesses who welcomed Derrick into his heavenly home, parental

grandparents-Thomas and Lucille Mosley, maternal grandparents- Charles and Wilma Stearns,

Paulette Malone, Jewel Sweatman (his first babysitter and member of Smith Chapel), and his

favorite uncle Charles Stearns, II.

Cherishing his memory, he leaves many loved ones, family, friends and co-workers.
