Obituary

Mr. Billy Joe Debase respectfully and affectionately known as Daddy, Paw Paw, Pops, Pro & "Deac" was born on June 18, 1935 to the blessed parents of Norfleet Debase and Bertha Mae Christal. He attended Oaklawn School and was a proud 1953 graduate of Turner High. Bill was a great man of God who loved everyone. He was a peewee football coach where he encouraged many young men to achieve their goals and dreams. He was also a self-employed industrial and residential cement finisher for many years. He joined the El Bethel Baptist Church at a young age under the leadership of Pastor Albin Hurd. He was a faithful servant. He served in the church as a choir member, the Chairman of the deacon board and a member of the finance committee for many years. He continued to be faithful under the leadership of Pastor Justin Barker until his demise. He married Annie Lee Keeton, and later married Reba Lloyd (deceased). He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Reba, one son, Timothy Nichols, one daughter, Cathy Debase, one brother, Alfonso (Baker) Hawkins and one sister, Alice Bridgewaters. He leaves his honorable legacy to his loving aunt, Norma Polk, sister, Ida Massey, sons, Madison Debase, Chris Jones, Umdrae Reed, Lawrence Chambers and Kenneth Chambers; daughters, Evelyn Wigfall, Valerie (Shawn) Leary, Christy (David) Holland, Marilyn Gail (Walter) Adams, Pam Lloyd and Janice Lloyd; 47 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the entire El Bethel Baptist Church family.
