Barbara Ann Turner was born in Waxahachie, Texas on September 14, 1939. She was
the youngest daughter of Chester and Myrtle Chiles. Barbara was proceeded in death
by her parents; her late husband Oscar Turner Sr.; and her three sisters: Maureen
Jones, Billie McGruder, and Evelyn Newell. Barbara attended Oaklawn Turner High.
She was an excellent student and played on the girls’ basketball team. Oaklawn is
where Barbara and Oscar met. It was a match for the ages. He was the quarterback
and captain of the football team. She was the homecoming queen. Oscar and Barbara
were married for 58 years.
