Ann Wedgeworth Maxwell, born on April 25, 1929 in Ike, TX, was the only child of Joe and Oceola Wedgeworth. She was educated in Waxahachie public schools and graduated from Oak Lawn High School. Mrs. Maxwell completed her formal education at Paul Quinn College in Waco, TX, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree. After college, Ann was excited to begin her teaching career in Ike, the place of her birth. She soon returned to Waxahachie to continue her enthusiasm for education as a first grade teacher in the WISD. Mrs. Maxwell was a dedicated educator. Because she knew the importance of early childhood education, she worked to make a difference by teaching first grade for 34 years. On March 14, 1953 Annie Marie Wedgeworth married the love of her life, Bertrand Maxwell, Sr. from McKinney, Tx. Their marriage has truly demonstrated what the promises and commitment of the wedding vows mean. Bert has loved and pampered Ann as they went through the daily challenges of Parkinson's disease together for more than 20 years. For almost 55 years it was rare to see them apart. Mrs. Maxwell has been a faithful member of Joshua Chapel A.M.E. church for more than 50 years. She served as a loyal and active member of the Stewardess Board until her health failed. Ann was also a loyal member of the Parkinson's Support Group. Preceding her in death were her father, Joe Wedgeworth and her mother Oceola Wedgeworth.
